Scott Reisinger Named Interim Head of School

Nichols School
The Nichols School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott R. Reisinger as the 14th Head of School. Reisinger, a distinguished educator with more than two decades of leadership experience, will begin his tenure as Interim Head of School on July 1.

The appointment follows the passing of longtime Head of School Chris Burner in March. The Board sought a leader capable of honoring the school’s prestigious history while ensuring a seamless and stable transition into the next academic year.

“We were determined to find a leader who could provide steady, experienced guidance for our community,” said Andrew Fors, Chair of the Nichols Board of Trustees. “In Scott, we found exactly that. His deep understanding of the unique culture of independent schools and his proven track record of excellence will be invaluable as we continue our mission of developing our students for their futures. We are excited to welcome him and his family to Buffalo.”

Reisinger brings a wealth of experience to Nichols, most recently serving as Head of School at Trevor Day School in New York City from 2014 to 2023. Prior to that, he spent 15 years as Headmaster of Bancroft School in Massachusetts. A respected voice in the educational community, Reisinger has also served as President of the Association of Independent Schools of New England (AISNE) and as President of the Board of Directors of the New York City Guild of Independent Schools.

“It is an honor to join Nichols School,” said Reisinger. “Nichols has a remarkable reputation for excellence, and I am eager to work alongside our talented faculty and staff to support our students. My wife and I are looking forward to becoming part of the Buffalo community and ensuring this next chapter for the school is one of strength and continued growth.”

A native of Rochester, Reisinger holds a Master of Philosophy in American History from Columbia University, as well as both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Rochester. His interim tenure is expected to span one or two school years while the Board of Trustees conducts a comprehensive search for a permanent successor.
