Nichols School (“Nichols”) has created this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) in order to demonstrate our commitment to the privacy of our students, alumni, and all of our visitors. We know that your privacy is important to you. Below you will find information concerning the collection, use and dissemination of personal information collected by Nichols. Technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace. This Privacy Policy will be revised when changes in technology require it. By continuing to use our website, you are accepting this Privacy Policy.

Personal Information Collected

Nichols does not collect any personal information above and beyond the information you provide us. Applying to the school, updating alumni information, parent address updates and registering for events are examples of transactions that require us to collect personal information. Nichols only uses the information collected to complete the intended transaction. Nichols will not release personal information to a third party unless it is required to complete the transaction. Using a credit card to make a purchase is an example of a transaction that requires a third party to complete.

User Access and Choice

Nichols works to keep your data accurate and up to date, to the extent that you provide us with the information we need to do that. If your data changes (like a new email address), then you are responsible for notifying Nichols of those changes.

Nichols will retain your information for as long as your account(s) is/are active or as long as needed to provide you services that you have requested. Nichols may also retain and use your information in order to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce agreements.

Nichols will provide an individual access to any personal information held about them within 30 days of any request for that information. Individuals may request this information by contacting Nichols using the contact information provided above. There is no charge for an individual to access or update his or her personal information.

Google Analytics

Nichols uses Google Analytics, a common website analytics tools, to determine usage information about visitors to our website. This allows us to determine browsing trends that help us to create content that is appealing to visitors. We use this tool to collect information such as browser version, last page visited, next page visited and time spent on the site. Cookies

A cookie is a text file that is stored on your computer. Nichols uses cookies to maintain your logged in status and to allow you to save your account preferences. We do not use cookies to collect or link to your personal information. Some Nichols business partners (e.g., Google Analytics) may also use cookies on the site. We do not have access or control over these cookies. You can choose to not accept cookies, but you may not be able to use some of the Nichols website services.

Online Tracking / Do Not Track

We do not track our visitors across third party websites to provide targeted advertising and therefore we do not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. However, some third party sites do keep track of your browsing activities when they serve you content, which enables them to tailor what they present to you. If you are visiting such sites, your internet browser may allow you to set the DNT signal on your browser so that third parties (particularly advertisers) know you do not want to be tracked.

No Collection of Children’s Personal Information

This site is intended for audiences at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. We reserve the right to delete any information we believe to be in violation of this Privacy Policy.

Security

We use various technologies and processes for protection of your data, and we limit the information we provide to outside companies with whom we contract to what they need to carry out their responsibilities. Personal information such as names, addresses and credit card numbers used for transactions is deleted from the site after the transactions are complete.

Social Media Platforms

The Nichols website includes social media features, like a Facebook button for accessing the Nichols Facebook page. Nichols may also provide blogs, forums, alumni class notes, and other related features. These features may collect information about your IP address and which page you’re visiting on our site, and they may set a cookie to make sure the feature functions properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our site. We also maintain presences on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Any information, communications, or materials you submit to us via a social media platform is done at your own risk without any expectation of privacy. We cannot control the actions of other users of these platforms or the actions of the platforms themselves. Your interactions with any third party features and platforms are governed by the privacy policies of the companies that provide them.

Links to other Websites

Our website has links to third party websites such as Youtube and Schoology. Nichols cannot control, and therefore, is not responsible for your privacy on those sites. Please refer to their privacy policies if you have any concerns with their sites.

Disclosure of Data

Nichols will only disclose your personal information, the contents of your private communications, or your contact information if required to do so by law, or as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy, or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (1) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Nichols; (2) protect and defend the rights or property of Nichols and others; (3) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of its members or the public; (4) to correct technical problems and malfunctions in how we provide our services to you and to technically process your information; (5) to take precautions against liability; (6) to respond to claims that information you have submitted to Nichols has violated the rights or interests of a third party; or (7) as permitted by law or to provide information to law enforcement agencies.

We Operate in the United States

Our servers and offices are located in the United States, so your information may be transferred to, stored, or processed in the United States. By using the Nichols website, you understand and consent to the collection, storage, processing, and transfer of your information to our facilities in the United States and those third parties with whom we share it as described in this Privacy Policy.

No Liability

You understand that electronic communications may be accessed by unauthorized parties when communicated across the Internet, network communications facilities, or other electronic means.
