Guest Artist Visit: Ariel Aberg-Riger

In association with Alice, Ever After Books, visual artist, and storyteller, Ariel Aberg-Riger will visit the Upper School on Friday, January 19. After addressing Upper School students in morning meeting, she will work with the Service and Social Justice Class, AP Art Class, and Exploring Concepts in Drawing and Painting Class. Meg Howe from Alice, Ever After Bookstore will have copies of her book America Redux on hand, and Ms. Aberg-Riger will be available for book signing throughout the day. Aberg-Riger combines collage art with text to create new ways of processing the complexity of US History. Ariel’s work is published widely, but she happens to live on the Westside of Buffalo! Her book “America Redux” won the 2023 Kirkus Award for Young People’s Literature. I have a copy of the book in my room if anyone would like a preview. It made quite an impact on me, as did Ariel when I met her at an educator's night at the bookstore this fall. I'm excited for our students to spend time with her.
