Throughout his eight years at Nichols School, Stead-Dorval has fostered his passion for music by playing viola and violin in addition to learning about music conducting and composition. He is representing Nichols in the Conference All-State Orchestra for the second consecutive school year playing viola.
Stead-Dorval also has a lengthy history of giving back to the local music community. His resumé includes violin and viola studies with Suzuki Violinists of WNY, piano studies with Marie Zak piano studio, composition studies with Dr. Ethan Hayden, and participation in the Bravo International Chamber Music Workshop, Buffalo Niagara Youth Chorus and the Greater Buffalo Youth Strings Orchestra. As a volunteer, Stead-Dorval has served as a music minister at the Newman Center at SUNY Buffalo State, and works with Buffalo String Works, teaching violin and viola to young refugee children while helping them build a sense of community and belonging in Buffalo.
