Nichols School Welcomes New Leadership

Nichols School is pleased to welcome Scott R. Reisinger as Interim Head of School and Pam McCarthy as Associate Head of School and Head of Upper School, two experienced educators who bring decades of independent school leadership to campus this year.

Reisinger arrives with a distinguished career spanning more than three decades in school leadership. He served as head of school at Trevor Day School in New York City from 2014 to 2023, where he oversaw major campus construction and renovation projects, led a comprehensive strategic planning process, and helped the school raise $50 million during his tenure. Before that, he spent 15 years as headmaster of Bancroft School in Worcester, Massachusetts, and held earlier leadership roles at Greens Farms Academy in Connecticut. A graduate of the University of Rochester and Columbia University, Reisinger has also been deeply engaged in the broader independent school community, including service on the boards of the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) and the Association of Independent Schools of New England.

McCarthy joins Nichols after serving as associate head of school at St. George's Independent School in Tennessee, a three-campus, birth–12th grade school of roughly 1,000 students. In that role, she provided strategic and academic oversight across divisions, led faculty hiring and development initiatives, and served as a key liaison to the Board of Trustees. She previously spent years at St. George's as Upper School Director and Campus Director, and earlier led the Middle and Upper School divisions at Saint John's Preparatory School in Minnesota. McCarthy holds a Master of Education from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science from Quinnipiac University.

Both Reisinger and McCarthy are eager to get to know the Nichols community and to get started working alongside students, faculty, and families in the weeks ahead. When you see them around campus, introduce yourself and give them a warm welcome.
