Varsity Baseball had the best season in program history in 2025. The team started their campaign in Florida, spending a week in St. Petersburg for scrimmages, where they faced strong competition to prepare for their tough league schedule back in Buffalo.
The team finished the regular season 14-4 (7-3 in league) and earned the #2 seed in the Monsignor Martin playoffs. Nichols beat St. Joe’s in a best-of-3 series in the semifinals, led by strong pitching from Ross Yoshida, Max Langer, and Max Zlotnick. Cody Kipler scored the game-winning run in Game 1 and got the save in Game 3. Brady Venditti was outstanding defensively at SS and Derek McIntyre had the game-winning hits in both Nichols wins.
The team faced off against #1 seed Canisius in the Georgetown Cup Finals, winning 12-2 in Game 1 behind Ross Yoshida (W, 6 IP,1 ER), Trent Ruffolo (3-5), Kasey Kohler (3B, 2 RBI), and Brady Venditti (2 RBI). Nichols dropped a pitcher’s duel in Game 2, with Max Langer throwing a great game. Game 3 went to Canisius 9-0. Nichols finished an overall 17-7 and was the runner-up in the Georgetown Cup.
Nichols would like to congratulate and thank our six seniors: Reed Coene, Kasey Kohler, Max Langer, Derek McIntyre, Drury Schmidt, and Ross Yoshida, for their dedication to the baseball program and the outstanding leadership they displayed in leading the team to the Georgetown Cup Finals.
