Nichols School earned the #1 Best Private High School spot in the Buffalo Area in Niche's 2027 ranking, the most widely used school rating platform for families navigating the high school search.

The recognition comes alongside three additional top honors: #1 Best High School for STEM in the Buffalo Area, #1 Best High School for College Prep in the Buffalo Area, and #1 Best Private High School in Erie County. Niche also awarded Nichols an A+ overall grade, its highest designation, placing the school in the top 2.5% of the 7,821 private high schools it evaluated this year.

Nationally, Nichols ranks 541st out of 4,672 private high schools, up 783 spots in a single year.

Niche's Best Private High Schools ranking uses a multi-factor model that includes college enrollment outcomes, the caliber of colleges students attend, parent and student satisfaction, student-teacher ratio, school accreditation, endowment per student, and instructional spending. No single factor determines the result.

Several of Nichols' scores stood out. The percentage of seniors enrolling in four-year colleges reached 98%, with more than a quarter of graduates enrolling in highly selective colleges and universities. Parent and student satisfaction scores climbed to the 91st percentile nationally, and the school's college outcomes scores ranked first among all nine regional peers evaluated.

Nichols' 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio, well below the national average of 16:1, reflects a learning environment in which students receive consistent individual attention from faculty who know them well.

Among the 15 ranked private high schools in the Buffalo Area, Nichols holds the top position. The next-closest regional peer ranks 348 spots behind nationally.
