Vikings Soccer Teams Earn All-State Accolades

The Nichols School varsity boys soccer team finished the season ranked #1 in Class B in the end-of-season New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization (NYSSCO) poll. Head coach Bobby Ross was also named Coach of the Year for Class B, as the Vikings ended the year winning the Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association (MMHSAA) championship. From the varsity girls soccer team, Mirann Gacioch '22 and Linda Ullmark '24 were named First Team All-State in Class B.

Ross credits his co-coach Chris Walter and his team, which ended the fall 2020 season with an 11-1-1 record. The Vikings earned a second-consecutive MMHSAA regular-season title and won the league championship for the first time since 2008.

In the boys soccer end-of-year awards, Alex Kompson '22 received highest honors, as the MMHSAA named him the Defensive Player of the Year. Joining Kompson on the All-Catholic First Team was Adamu, Rambino, Thomas Enstice '22 and Michael Tuber '21. McHale and Joe Blackley '22 made the MMHSAA All-Catholic Second Team. Kompson was also named to the Section VI All-WNY Overall Team, and Adamu and Tuber made the Section VI All-WNY Small School Team.

Gacioch and Ullmark helped the Nichols varsity girls soccer team advance to the MMHSAA championship game for the fourth season in a row. The pair also earned Section VI All-WNY First Team accolades, and they were named to the 2020 MMHSAA Division A All-Catholic Team along with Sophia Jones '23.

Congratulations to everyone on the varsity boys soccer and varsity girls soccer teams on a memorable 2020 season!
