Vikings Honored During 2020 Fall Athletic Award Ceremony
On Monday, December 15, Upper School student-athletes competing on Nichols' boys' and girls' soccer, boys and girls cross country, field hockey, boys golf, girls tennis and sailing were recognized for their dedication, leadership and efforts in their respective sports. These honorees were recognized by their coaches for their outstanding performance and growth as athletes and as teammates.
The varsity boys soccer team won its first Monsignor Martin league championship since 2008, beating Canisius 2-1 and finishing the year as one of the top teams in New York State at 11-1-1. Varsity girls soccer advanced to their fourth-straight league championship by defeating last year’s champion St. Mary’s of Lancaster before falling in the title game to Nardin. The varsity field hockey team finished with a tremendous 7-1-1 record. Girls cross country went undefeated in League meets and captured its first-ever Monsignor Martin championship, placing three runners in the top five at the All-Catholic Championship meet. In boys cross country, Alex Aubrecht ’21 finished first in all three races he participated in, and Austin Bares ’22 took third at the All-Catholic Championship meet.
Congratulations to all of our Nichols athletics award winners! A replay of the virtual recognition ceremony can be viewed here.
