Nichols 16U Drop Season Opener

The Nichols 16U team opened the season downtown at the HarborCenter vs. Amherst 16U on Friday night. The team found its-self fighting a good opening round opponent to the season as they tried to get the season off to a good start. The breaks of the game where not in the boys favor though. Amherst was able to bank the puck off the Nichols defender in the sixth minute of the first then followed it up by jamming a puck with less than second remaining in the period to put Nichols down by two and one goalie injured. Amherst continued to catch the breaks twice scoring in the second with boys coming off Nichols defenders and one from once again behind the net. Despite the setbacks, Nichols found opportunities but never capitalized. Nichols will look to capitalize next week with their home opener vs. Utica Comets 16U on Saturday then travel on Sunday to take on rival St. Francis on Sunday at 6:15 pm.
