Title: Upper School Latin Teacher
Department: Modern & Classical Languages
Reports To: Head of Upper School
Compensation Year: August 2025 - June 2026 (Part-Time Exempt)

Summary: Nichols School is seeking a dynamic and passionate part-time Upper School Latin Teacher who will be responsible for teaching Latin courses across a range of proficiency levels. The ideal candidate is a dedicated educator who brings a deep knowledge of the Latin language and classical literature, along with the ability to inspire upper school students through engaging, rigorous instruction.

The position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, student-centered environment; demonstrates strong communication and classroom management skills; and values collaboration with colleagues. The candidate should be comfortable differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and maintaining open communication with students and families.
Duties:

● Teach 2-3 Upper School Latin classes, ranging from introductory to advanced levels.
● Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes linguistic and cultural engagement.
● Design lessons that develop students' reading, writing, and translation skills in Latin.
● Inspire student interest in classical civilizations and their relevance today.
● Communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
● Collaborate with colleagues across departments to enhance the student experience.

Skills and Qualifications:

● Fluency in Latin and strong knowledge of classical literature and culture.
● Bachelor's degree in Classics, Education, or a related field (required); Master's degree preferred.
● Experience teaching high school Latin (preferred).
● Excellent interpersonal and classroom management skills.
● Ability to differentiate instruction for a range of learners.
● Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the schoool
● Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to also teach Spanish or English.
