New Student Commons

Earlier this summer, construction began on Nichols School’s new Student Commons. This innovative new facility, which will include expanded dining, meeting and gathering spaces, will be an exciting and long-awaited addition to our campus. The new Student Commons, located between the Rand Dining Room in Mitchell Hall and the Flickinger Performing Arts Center, is expected to be completed by August 2019.

The Student Commons will serve as a gathering area for students to spend their free time and it will also increase our event space and allow us to host more community programming. A new multipurpose room for lectures, meetings and presentations will feature a video screen and sliding door, giving us a private meeting room or additional dining space, depending on the event. The space will have wheelchair access and will be climate controlled. A new east-facing Duffy Courtyard overlooking the quadrangle and a west-facing terrace overlooking Peek and Truscott Fields will frame the building.

Nichols School is fortunate to have strong philanthropic support for this $4.5 million project. We received an anonymous gift that allows us to move forward with construction at this time, and the School will continue to secure funding throughout the process. Please contact Director of Advancement Leslie Garcia at lgarcia@nicholsschool.org to find out how to support this project or to learn more about naming opportunities.
