Nichols 16U Skates Past Rival St. Francis

The Nichols 16U took the first game of the many games to follow vs. rival St. Francis on Sunday night. Despite controlling the puck much of the game Nichols was unable to find the back of the net until the second period when freshman Dominic Ditondo ’23 circled behind the net and found Sophomore Jack Regan ’22 in the slot who buried his first of the season. As the game wore on goaltender Lawton Zacher ‘22 was a rock in the net denying St. Francis on every opportunity including one five on three and numerous other penalty kills, finishing the game with nineteen saves. In the third, it was assistant captain Carter Lukowski ’22 who used a bit of creativity after being denied a drive across the net, banked the puck off the back of the goaltenders back and into the net. Nichols will look to clean up its act as it heads to Boston for the upcoming Boston Jr. Bruins Shootout.
