Linda Ullmark '24 continues to make waves in the world of collegiate soccer. After the midfielder helped lead the University of North Carolina women's soccer team to their 21st NCAA Division I championship this fall, Ullmark has now earned a spot on the prestigious U.S. U-20 Women's National Team, set to compete in the upcoming 2025 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Costa Rica.
The tournament serves as a qualifying event for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, hosted in Poland in September 2026. The top four finishers in the eight-team tournament automatically advance to the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Team USA has won the event seven times, the most of any competing nation.
“I get goosebumps every time I think about it,” Ullmark said of representing the United States. “It’s a surreal feeling, and it makes us all super excited. This group, we are living this amazing opportunity together, and we want to show the world what we have to bring to this tournament.”
Ullmark is one of 21 players born in 2006 or 2007 who will represent Team USA in Costa Rica. The U.S. opens CONCACAF tournament play on May 30 at 1 p.m. ET when they take on Guyana.
Over the fall season, the Buffalo, N.Y., native was the one of five Tar Heels and the only freshman to start all 27 games last season. She was named to the College Cup All-Tournament Team and the ACC All-Freshman Team. Ullmark tallied six goals and five assists on the season, which ranked fourth on the team in scoring.
