Nichols Alumni featured in the Buffalo International Film Fest

On Saturday, Oct. 7th, four short films with connections to Nichols School will be shown as part of the Buffalo International Film Festival's WNY Shorts program. Two of these films were directed by Nichols alumni, and the other two were produced or assistant-produced by Nichols faculty. Listed below are short descriptions of the works. We look forward to seeing you there!
  1. "To the Moon and Back" directed by Nichols Visual Arts Teacher Amanda Besl. 'A film about fighting the gravitational pull within an unhealthy relationship and a narrator’s unrealistic assumptions about love. Leaving might feel as impossible as traveling to outer space, but space may be closer than we have imagined.'
  1. "hArmless" directed by Nichols Alumna Elizabeth Cappuccino '13 featuring Nichols Alumna Vivian Hunt '19. 'A young woman works the moonlight shift at her local bodega when upon closing she discovers a patron who won't exit the bathroom. This quirky thriller exemplifies the everyday dread of existing in a females body, the fear, the guilt from the fear, and then the question of how to handle transgressions whether they're hArmless or not.'
  2. “The Mafia” directed by Nichols Alumna Logan Girdlestone '18. 'A short documentary on the best fan base in the NFL: Bills Mafia.'
  1. "This is Not a Pipe Dream" written and produced Diane Jones. Nichols Department Chair for the Arts, Kristen Kelley served as Associate Producer on this work. 'Ancestral ghosts materialize staging stories that rally our woman who is nearing release from a psychiatric hospital. A fanciful tale based in truth.'
