Maureen Foley ’21, Zahra Khan ’21 Honored with US Squash Scholar Athlete Award

Maureen Foley ’21 and Zahra Khan ’21 were recognized by US Squash as 2019-2020 Scholar Athlete Award winners for their success in academics and on the squash courts last school year. For Foley and Khan, it is the third year in a row they have both earned this high honor.

Students who earn Scholar Athlete recognition demonstrate dedication to their studies, achieving a 3.5 GPA or higher, while maintaining an active squash schedule by participating in accredited junior squash tournaments or on their high school squash team. You should be proud of your accomplishments; this award celebrates those who embody the values that are central to being a student-athlete.

Foley and Khan were pivotal leaders for the varsity girls squash team as the team earned its highest-ever national finish last winter. After compiling a 14-2 record against local teams and schools from New England and Ontario, the Vikings entered the 2020 HEAD US High School Team Squash Championships in Division 2, the team’s highest seeding ever. With two team wins and two losses at nationals, Nichols ranked as the 20th overall team at the close of the tournament.

Congratulations to Maureen and Zahra on your outstanding accomplishments!
