Nichols School, Warren Gelman '63 Featured in WGRZ Story

Months before Team USA hockey defeated the Soviet Union in the classic "Miracle on Ice" game in Lake Placid during the 1980 Olympics, Nichols School hosted the young American team for an exhibition matchup with Yale University.

Warren Gelman '63, who played hockey at both Nichols and Yale, worked with Peter Rush, a Buffalo native who sat on the board of the Amateur Hockey Association of the United States, to bring both Team USA and Yale to Buffalo for an exhibition game at Nichols.

Ahead of the 40th anniversary of the "Miracle on Ice" Pete Gallivan of WGRZ interviewed Gelman and Doug Sherman, editor for the Bee Newspapers who photographed the game, to tell the story of Team USA's visit to Buffalo and Nichols School.
