Nichols 6, Shady Side 2

The Vikings traveled to SUNY-Fredonia to face off with Pittsburgh Prep rival Shady Side Academy and skated away with a 6-2 win moving to 7-3 on the season. Jack McDonald broke open the scoring finishing off a rebound from a Michael Naples shot. Shady Side would counter with one of their own with a nice play on a 2v2 rush. McDonald scored his second of the game on the power play to break the tie, and Cameron Ricotta finished off a nice net front play to extend the lead to 3-1 with just under a minute to play in the first period. Shady Side played to the buzzer and found the net with 18 seconds left to cut the lead to 3-2.
From that point on it was all Nichols as Naples extended the lead to 4-2 in the second. With 4 minutes to play in the third, Cameron Bauer continued his scoring streak netting his 8th of the season, and Kolby Amici put the game away with an empty netter. Nichols held a 36-22 shot advantage, and Owen Parker picked up his 5th win of the season stopping 20 on the day.
