The Nichols harriers squared off with St. Francis Wednesday afternoon at Como Park for the first of their Monsignor Martin Athletic league meets. Junior Alex Aubrecht won the race in a time of 18:06, besting the first St. Francis runner by nearly 20 seconds, and senior Mitchell Paige finished 5th overall, but these standout performances were not enough to win the meet. The depth of St. Francis' middle pack led them to a 29-39 victory over the Big Green. Hampered by illness and a few nagging injuries, our juniors are poised for a comeback; sophomores Allen Potter, James Coburn, and Ben Cordero-Livingston all put in very good runs. Other notable efforts from sophomore Marlon Maidment and freshmen Owen Block rounded out the afternoon. We bid a fond adieu to co-captain Mitchell Paige; thank you for your outstanding effort and service to the team, Mitch! Best of luck in all your future endeavors. Nichols Boys will be back in action at the venerable McQuaid invitational in Rochester on Saturday.
