Boys Soccer Defeats Lockport

The boys put together a victorious finish to the first week of school with a win at Lockport on Friday. In a chippy game––the two teams combined for twenty-one fouls, with Lockport earning two yellow cards––the Vikings couldn’t seem to find the offense in the first half, maintaining most of the possession but struggling to find a shot. The offensive woes continued into the second half, until, in the sixty-first minute, junior striker Jesse Adamu drove with speed to find a longball, putting him in prime position inside the eighteen-yard box. Boxed out by a defender and forced into a bad angle, Adamu unselfishly laid up a pass around the penalty marker for speedy sophomore winger Tommy Enstice, in his first action since an off-season M.C.L. sprain. Enstice then delivered a laser into the back of the net, recording the game’s only score. Back over .500 on the year, Nichols takes momentum back to Lockport for another tournament game against Starpoint tomorrow.
