Anne Najdzionek '19 Named to Independent Health Community All-Stars

Recent Nichols School graduate Anne Najdzionek '19 was recently featured as one of the 2019 Community All-Stars, presented by Independent Health and Buffalo Business First. Najdzionek was recognized for her stellar community service and commitment to improve the Western New York community.

A well-rounded student in her time at Nichols, Najdzionek held leadership positions as a team captain with both varsity softball and Science Olympiad, in addition to leading the Beekeeping Club. Najdzionek and the club helped maintain a beehive at the Massachusetts Avenue Project in Buffalo and made a presentation on beekeeping to the youth group.

As a member of the Nichols community and Western New York at large, Najdzionek twice went Bald for Bucks, organized Nichols' Pie It Forward Thanksgiving pie drive and Munchies for the Missions holiday cookie drive, and volunteered with the Newcomer's Academy and helped with First Thanksgiving for Journey's End.

At this year's Verdian Day awards ceremony, Najdzionek received the Head of School Award, the George Knight Houpt Senior English Prize and the Red Jacket Poetry Award from the English department, and the Baldwin Science Award from the Science department. Najdzionek, who graduated from Nichols School with highest honors, also won the Jacobs Award for Environmental Sustainability in 2017 and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Medal in 2018, and was named MVP of the varsity softball team her junior year.

Najdzionek will be attending McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada this fall. Ten years from now, she hopes to be working as a physicist.

Congratulations to Anne, and thank you for all you have provided to the Nichols community!
