Orientation trips are a popular Nichols tradition and allow students and faculty to get to know each other more personally and make connections outside of the classroom setting. On Wednesday, August 27, and Thursday, August 28, the seventh grade will be venturing off campus for an overnight at JCC Camp Seneca Lake near Rochester, New York. It has 200 beautiful, wooded acres filled with adventures for the seventh grade to explore. On Wednesday, August 28, students should arrive at school with everything they will need for the next two days. Students should wear and bring comfortable outdoor clothing and closed-toed sneakers. These days will be filled with team-building, challenges, mindfulness, and Nichols HEART. Please see the attached list of specifics on what students should pack for Camp Seneca Lake, along with an additional digital form regarding any dietary needs and your child’s swimming ability. Please note all meals and snacks will be provided.
Please fill out this digital form no later than Friday, August 22
Parents also need to provide medical information about medicines/dosages, etc. for an overnight trip.
Students will arrive back at Nichols on Thursday, August 28, at approximately 4 p.m. Friday, August 29, will be a day off from school for our Middle School students to allow families to take advantage of the Labor Day weekend. Our first academic week will start on Tuesday, September 2.
The seventh-grade team and the entire Middle School faculty look forward to getting to know your child and watching the tremendous amount of growth that happens during this year. If you have any questions regarding the first few days of school, please do not hesitate to contact me at dhowe@nicholsschool.org.
