8th Grade to Adirondack Wood Craft Camp

Our orientation trips are a cherished Nichols tradition. They provide a fantastic opportunity for students and faculty to connect on a personal level and build relationships outside the classroom. This year, from Tuesday, August 26th to Thursday, August 28th, the eighth grade will be adventuring off to Adirondack Wood Craft Camp in Old Forge, New York. Nestled on 250 acres of beautiful fields and forests and surrounded by two serene lakes, this camp offers a perfect setting for your child to bond with classmates and teachers.
On Tuesday, August 26th, students should arrive at school with everything they’ll need for the next three days. They should wear comfortable outdoor clothing and closed-toe sneakers. The trip will be packed with team-building activities, challenges, mindfulness exercises, and a focus on Nichols HEART values. Please refer to the attached packing list for specifics on what to bring. Additionally, there is a digital form attached for you to provide information on any dietary needs and your child’s swimming ability. Rest assured, all meals and snacks will be provided.
Students will return to Nichols on Thursday, August 28th, around 7:00 p.m. They will be ready for pickup in front of the Middle School. To give families a chance to enjoy the Labor Day weekend, Friday, August 29th, will be a day off for Middle School students. We look forward to seeing the eighth grade back on campus on Tuesday, September 2nd.
The eighth-grade team and the entire Middle School faculty are excited to get to know your child and witness the incredible growth they will experience this year. If you have any questions about the first few days of school, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at kharden@nicholsschool.org or dnolan@nicholsschool.org.
