Spirit Week Recap

Last week we kicked-off fall and the start of the school year with Spirit Week! We had different themed days such as dressing up as your favorite celebrity, crazy cranium day, tie-dye & neon day, and Nichols pride day. These themed days occurred all week and led to our Community Day on Friday.

Community Day was split up into morning and afternoon activities that occurred on and off campus. Our Middle School students spent the morning competing in games and events for their respective houses. Our 12th, 10th, and 9th grade students spent the morning on grade-level retreats in different areas of Buffalo. Our 11th grade students spent the morning giving back to the Buffalo community through service projects.

The 11th graders volunteered at eight community organizations across Western New York. These organizations included GoBike Buffalo, Olmsted Park Conservancy, Friends of Night People, Massachusetts Avenue Project, Journey's End Urban Farm, People's Park, Habitat for Humanity, and King Urban Life Center. Thanks to Service and Social Justice Coordinators Kevin Powers and Caitlin Crowell for organizing this great morning!

Community Day continued in the afternoon with school-wide games, events, and fun. We had a faculty vs students kickball game, a spelling bee, chalk art, Macrame, and a photo booth, just to name a few. Students enjoyed these activities and events before the students celebrated the senior class which culminated in a student's creating a giant 'N' in the middle of our new turf field.

Thank you to all our faculty and staff for helping pitch in and making Spirit Week and Community Day a success!
