Let There Be Light

From their summer reading novel, Laugh with the Moon, to an electrifying visit to Niagara Falls and the Power Vista, from learning about The Boy who Harnessed the Wind, to designing, building and flying their own kites, the first trimester 7th grade Connections students accomplished amazing things this past fall.

They culminated their fall experience with a project designed to give back through Let There Be Light International, a non-profit established by Nichols alumna Sarah Baird ’83, the mission of which is, “to combat energy poverty in vulnerable off-grid communities and to fight global climate change.”

Fifteen dollars purchases and delivers one life-changing solar light to a student, a new mother, or other qualifying household in an energy impoverished area. The students created twenty-five Nichols kite kits, offered to the community for a minimum donation of $15 each. Contact Ms. Dell in the Middle School front office if you would like to get a kite. adell@nicholsschool.org 716-332-5100
