Congratulations to Nichols boys Federation hockey, the 2022 Niagara Cup winners and Monsignor Martin league champions!

The Vikings took down St. Francis 2-1 Monday afternoon at HARBORCENTER. After falling into an early deficit, Dominic DiTondo '23 tied the game up the second period, and London Goodwin '24 scored the game-winning goal in the first minute of overtime.

“I was coming down the ice, and the whole time I was thinking, ‘Let’s get this on net,'" Goodwin told The Buffalo News reflecting on his game-winning goal. “I missed the net a few times earlier in the game. I shot it, and it slipped through.”

Goaltender Christian Schwartz '23 was named the Most Valuable Player of the championship game as he backstopped Nichols to victory.

The Vikings now hold a 15-3 record in their first season under head coach RJ Gicewicz '14. Gicewicz returned to Nichols last summer after playing college hockey at St. Lawrence University and coaching stints with Fredonia State University and with the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League.

Next up, Nichols plays in the CHSAA state finals against Chaminade at HarborCenter on Saturday, March 5 at 2:30 p.m.
