Alex Kompson '22, Michael McHale '22 Receive All-State Soccer Honors

Varsity boys soccer senior defender Alex Kompson '22 was named First Team All-State by the United States Coaching Association (USCA). Fellow senior Michael McHale '22 was named Fifth Team All-State.

Kompson and McHale were key leaders as Nichols secured a second consecutive Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association league championship this fall, defeating Canisius in overtime by a score of 2-1 on November 6.

Kompson led a Nichols defense that allowed just nine goals in 13 regular season and postseason Monsignor Martin matches this fall (24 goals in 21 matches overall). He also added one goal and three assists offensively. Kompson is a two-time Monsignor Martin Player of the Year, a three-time First Team All-Catholic honoree, and was also named to the 2020 Section VI All-WNY Overall Team.

McHale was named to the Fifth Team All-State by the USCA after scoring eight goals and nine assists this season. As a sophomore in 2019, McHale was the Monsignor Martin Offensive Player of the Year and helped Nichols capture the league's regular-season championship. McHale is a two-time First Team All-Catholic honoree (2019, 2021) and a two-time Second Team All-Catholic honoree (2018, 2020).
