Mental Health Advocate Ross Szabo Speaks at Nichols School

Mental health advocate Ross Szabo joined Nichols Upper School students and families for an informative discussion in the Flickinger Performing Arts Center on Monday, October 4.

Szabo, who is the CEO of the Human Power Project, Wellness Director at the Geffen Academy at UCLA, and author of “Behind Happy Faces: Taking Charge of Your Mental Health – A Guide for Young Adults", started the students' week with an engaging presentation on what mental health is and how they can navigate mental health struggles in their own lives. He shared his own journey and hardships he faced as a high school student in order to show Nichols students the impact of negative mental health and the importance of making wellness a priority.

Szabo also held a session for Nichols families including a presentation and question-and-answer session to share tips on how parents and guardians can best support their students.

This is the second time Szabo has presented for the Nichols community. He joined students and families virtually in December 2020 as part of the school's Nichols Healthy Choices series.

The presentation at Nichols was the result of a partnership with the One Last Goal Foundation. One Last Goal focuses on providing resources around mental health issues and combatting the stigma around depression. Learn more about the One Last Goal Foundation here.
