Each student works directly with one of three college counselors, who meets with that student and their family beginning in sophomore year. The College Center also hosts college visits and educational events for families, and guides students through the standardized testing process.

Nichols was also rated first among private schools for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in the Buffalo area. The school's commitment to STEM learning is most evident at the Class of 1963 Center for Math and Science, which boasts eight mathematics classrooms and seven Upper School science classrooms with labs, and a STEM Lab and Maker Space in Albright Hall. “What makes the Nichols experience truly exceptional is the community, the faculty, the college counselors, and the advisors that go on this journey with you,” Ali McPherson ’92 P’22,’24 said. “For my daughter who is now a senior, some of these individuals have been in her life since she started as a fifth grader in the Middle School. Now, she leans into those relationships with people who have been with her in the classroom, in the athletic arena, on the performing arts stage and in experiential learning opportunities outside of Nichols. They know her inside and out, and their advice and counsel for her as she prepares for the next stage of life is irreplaceable.”
