Alex Kompson ’22, Jesse Adamu ’21 Named to 2021 New York State Boys Small School All-State Teams

After leading Nichols varsity boys soccer to a Monsignor Martin championship-winning season, two players were named to the 2021 New York State Boys Small School All-State Teams by United Soccer Coaches (USC). Alex Kompson ’22 was named First Team All-State and Jesse Adamu ’21 was named Fifth Team All-State. This season, Kompson and Adamu helped lead the Vikings to their first Monsignor Martin league title since 2008.
 
Kompson’s stellar play this season received many high honors locally. Kompson was named the Monsignor Martin Defensive Player of the Year, and he won the community voting to be named The Buffalo News’ Prep Talk Boys Athlete of the Fall. His play also garnered All-Catholic First Team and Section VI All-WNY Overall Team honors. Kompson will return to lead the Vikings as a senior in the fall of 2021.
 
Adamu, now a graduate of Nichols School, joined Kompson on the All-Catholic First Team in addition to Section VI All-WNY Small School Team honors. He also earned an Honorable Mention for the Fall 2021 All-WNY Scholar Athlete awards.
 
Nichols varsity boys soccer finished their season this fall with a record of 11-1-1 and the team earned its first Monsignor Martin title since 2008 with a 2-1 win over Canisius. Head coach Bobby Ross was named Coach of the Year for Class B and the team finished the season ranked #1 in the state in Class B, as awarded in the end-of-season New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization (NYSSCO) poll.
