Sameera Fazili ’96 Named Deputy Director of National Economic Council

Nichols School alumna Sameera Fazili ’96 was named to President-elect Joe Biden’s National Economic Council. Fazili, who has been working as the Economic Agency lead for the Biden-Harris transition team, will focus on manufacturing, innovation and domestic competition in her role as Deputy Director of the National Economic Council.
 
Most recently, Fazili worked with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta where she served as the Director of Engagement for Community and Economic Development. She also worked in the White House during Barack Obama’s presidency, serving in roles as a senior policy advisor for the National Economic Council and as a senior advisor for the Domestic Finance and International Affairs offices at the United States Treasury Department.
 
In her time at Nichols, Fazili was the editor of Leviathan, the school’s political science newspaper, the business editor of the 1996 Verdian, and competed in Math League. She was also an outstanding student-athlete competing in lacrosse and field hockey. Fazili went on to attend Harvard University and Yale Law School, and began her career as a clinical lecturer of law at Yale.
