Alex Kompson '22 Voted Buffalo News Prep Talk Boys Athlete of the Fall

Thanks to the voting support of the Nichols community, Alex Kompson ’22 was honored as Prep Talk Boys Athlete of the Fall by The Buffalo News. More than 135,000 votes were cast in the final round of voting between December 21-24.

Kompson was the Monsignor Martin Defensive Player of the Year and he was named to the All-Catholic First Team and All-WNY Overall Team. He helped Nichols varsity boys soccer advance to a second-consecutive Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association (MMHSAA) championship and win its first league title since 2008.

In a tightly-contested final, Kompson earned 53 percent of the fan vote against Amherst cross country runner Jack Lenz.

“I owe a big thanks to the Nichols community,” Kompson told the Buffalo News. “They really helped out and came together. We’re a small school and they wanted to win to show a lot of pride in our school and out students. I’m glad I got to be the person to have my name out there and get the win for our school.”

Congratulations on an outstanding season, Alex!
