Friday, May 29, 2020 marked the 128th celebration of Verdian Day, an annual celebration which commemorates the accomplishments of students, faculty and staff throughout the past school year. This year’s festivities took place through a series of virtual ceremonies and socially-distant meetings as the school community continued to navigate changes brought by the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The morning opened with an All-School Meeting featuring the Middle School and Upper School Verdian dedications.
This year’s Middle School dedications recognized English teacher George Kloepfer, who completed his final year and is retiring after 48 yearsteaching at Nichols, and English teacher and Learning Specialist Julia Marthia. Avery O. ’24 and Teddy H. ‘24 read the Middle School dedications.

The Upper School dedications were given to arts teacher Kristen Kelley and physical education teacher Robert Ross, presented by Claire Blandino ’20 and Rachel Dolan ’20.

Finally, the William Nichols Award was presented to Upper School English teacher Lolly Errickson. Mrs. Errickson was recognized for her longtime contributions to the school in the classroom and for her leadership in developing the Writing Center and guiding seniors through the annual thesis project. The William Nichols Award recognizes members of the faculty and staff who have contributed to the overall quality of a Nichols education.
