McClure, Wu Named Finalists in 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program

Michael McClure '20 and Junqi Wu '20 have been named as Finalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program, which is run by the National Merit Scholarship Committee (NMSC). McClure and Wu were recognized for their accomplishments at Upper School morning meeting on Friday, February 14.

The two Nichols School seniors were announced in September as Semifinalists in the annual competition. McClure and Wu are two of 15,000 Finalists out of 1.5 million students from about 21,000 high schools who entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program.

These awards for McClure and Wu are based on their performance on the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and their continued academic success at Nichols School.

Each Finalist is eligible for one of 7,500 Merit Scholarship awards, which will be presented in March.

At Nichols School, teachers strive to personally understand each student in order to provide an outstanding education. Students take part in an exciting learning environment that transcends the classroom – where critical thought, creativity and innovation are demonstrated every day, and students are challenged to apply these principles to whatever they pursue.

Congratulations to Michael and Junqi on this outstanding honor!
