This weekend, Nichols School plays host to "20,000 Leagues," this year's Upper School fall play. This world-premiere adaptation of Jules Verne's legendary science-fiction classic, written by Nichols School alumna Bella Poynton '03, will be presented this Friday and Saturday, November 22 and 23. Both shows begin at 7 p.m. in the Flickinger Performing Arts Center, and tickets are $5 at the door.
At her Alumni Speaker Series appearance last week, Poynton shared her playwriting influences and what she learned by developing her voice through the writing and producing experience. She also spoke of her deep love for science fiction, what she learned about the sci-fi genre's potential on the stage, and how the genre affords her greater freedom as a storyteller.
Costumes and set pieces for the play were designed in-house by students in Nichols' Fashion Design Club and Upper School visual arts teacher Amanda Besl.
We look forward to seeing you at the play this weekend!
