US Squash has selected Nichols student-athlete Maureen Foley '21 to be a member of Team USA at the British Junior Open this January. This is the third time Maureen has played for a Team USA squad, and the second time she has played for Team USA at the British Junior Open. Maureen is one of only fifty team members selected nationally, and she previously played for Team USA at the British Junior Open in 2015. Once again, this is an incredible honor for Maureen and the entire western New York squash community!
The British Junior Open is one of the most prestigious age-group championships in the world, and runs from January 3-7, 2018. Before that, Maureen and her sister Claire Foley '18 will both travel to Edinburgh, Scotland to play in the Scottish Open from Dec. 28-30.
Regarding her great opportunity to play for Team USA again, Maureen said, "Playing for Team USA at the British Open two years ago was such an amazing experience. I loved representing my country and playing some of the best players in the world. I've been working very hard over the past two years so that I could make the team again. I knew going into this season that I would have to work even harder to give myself the best chance possible of making the team."
"I want to thank my coaches for helping me prepare and the Nichols community for supporting me. When I get back from England, I'm looking forward to helping our Nichols squash team win the league and hopefully win ANOTHER National High School Championship!" said Maureen.
