Friday, February 2, 2018 marked Nichols School's fifth year hosting EdCo school students for a day of training and talking, community building and connection-making. Over 100 participants from six area schools attended the conference. Nichols students and faculty facilitated workshops that covered topics ranging from confronting injustices in scholarship, popular culture and social media, to creating more nurturing environments for hard political conversations.
Workshops focused on minority students in STEM classes, ethics and religion, and the situation of refugees in Buffalo. Filmmaker Korey Green, whose most recent movie "The Blackness Project" will premiere at the Burchfield Penney on February 9, delivered the keynote address, and Marcus Deveso from Buffalo Prep also addressed the gathered students.
