Admissions

Upper School Admissions Process

Whether you are considering Nichols or have already begun the application, please contact a member of the admissions team with any questions you may have! Call the admissions office at 716.332.6325 or email the team at admissions@nicholsschool.org.

A complete Nichols application includes the following:

  • Online Application. Please create an account or log in at www.nicholsschool.org/apply. You’ll find the online application on your child’s checklist. We require that an application be completed and submitted prior to your child’s Zoom interview.
  • Writing Sample. All applicants are required to provide a writing sample. You can find this writing prompt on the checklist in your child’s online account. This should be completed and submitted prior to your child’s Zoom interview.
  • Student Interview. We require all applicants schedule a virtual Zoom interview with a member of our Admissions Team. We use this opportunity to get to know your child’s interests and strengths, and welcome the chance to answer questions as well. Interviews will be scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. We will also offer time on weekday evenings for those students who are attending in-person school five days a week. These time slots are upon request only. Please contact our office at 716.332.6325 or admissions@nicholsschool.org to schedule your interview. We will provide a Zoom link by email prior to the interview.
  • Recommendation Forms and Transcript Release Form. There are several recommendation forms that are required to be completed by your child’s current teachers and returned to the Admissions Office electronically. All Upper School applicants are required to submit a math, English, and modern & classical languages recommendation from their current teachers. There are two optional recommendation forms for arts and athletics that may be filled out at the discretion of the applicant. A transcript release form must also be sent to your child’s current school. The recommendations and the transcript release form can be found in your child’s checklist once you’ve created an online account.
  • Parent Event. We require all applicants and parents to visit our school via one of our virtual events to learn more about Nichols.
    • Learn About Nichols virtual events take place both during the school day and evenings for both Middle and Upper School. This event includes time with our Upper and Middle School Heads, various department chairs, and a Q&A session with current students and faculty. Registration is required.
    • Lunch & Learn events take place virtually during the lunch hour. You’ll learn more about Nichols by hearing from school leaders, including the Head of School. Registration is required.

We look forward to hearing from you to get your parent event and child’s interview scheduled. Call us at 716.332.6325 or email admissions@nicholsschool.org.
