Kari Achatz brings her commitment to the practice of making artwork and her enthusiasm of community connections to the Nichols Middle School art department. She is a 2009 graduate of Daemen College, and received a M.S. in Art Education from the State University of new York at Buffalo in 2011. Before joining the Nichols art department she taught Pre-K through 8th grade art for seven years. Kari believes in the power of community connections and encourages these connections through gallery visits, guest artists and empowering her students to succeed in local art competitions. In addition to teaching at Nichols she also teaches "Art with Artists" classes throughout the year at the Albright Knox Art Gallery. As an artist, she has exhibited her work at the Czurles-Nelson Galelry and the Burchfield Penny Art Center with an installation called Secret Spaces that ran through the summer of 2012.
