Our Program > College Counseling
Your college counselors will assist you each step of your college search. We will help you define your goals, and answer questions about testing and application procedures. We will show you how and where to find information about colleges that meet your specifications. We are your liaison with college admissions offices. We greet the college representatives who visit Nichols, explain the Nichols curriculum, and advocate on behalf of individual applicants.

As you determine your choices, we will help you assess how realistic they are. Our experience regarding admissions decisions, our records of decisions on past applicants, and the profiles colleges publish on their enrolled freshmen are available to you. In assessing the probable decision a specific college may make, we will not prohibit or dictate any application you make. Where you apply is your decision; whether you are accepted is the college's decision. We would like to make certain that you will have several options after admission decisions are made.

We announce the visits of college representatives in morning form meetings and in other venues. A schedule of expected visitors is posted in the College Counseling Office located in the junior/senior study area.

The college office has resources for you as well. It contains college catalogs, videos, CD-ROMs, and view books. Registration materials for the admissions tests, financial aid forms, test preparation manuals, and college guides are also available. In addition, there are several computers available for use in the junior/senior study area that have Internet capability by which students can conduct a college search, register for SAT and ACT tests, investigate college web sites, download applications and financial aid forms, and gain a vast amount of general college-related information.
