Derby Day Party Fast Facts

When: May 6, 2017 5:30 PM

Where: Dann Memorial Ice Rink, Nichols School

Attire: There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to Derby Day dressing. Spring dresses, pastel colored suits, seersucker blazers, bowties, or anything that you feel complements you and the day is just fine.

Hats: We welcome hats at our event but they are not required. Wearing a hat to the Kentucky Derby is believed to bear good luck! The long-established fashion was started by the women, however, over the last few years, many men have taken part in the tradition as well. Wearing a hat is much like getting into costume, you might be pleasantly surprised to see what type of character you become. From the fantastic to the sublime, there are no rules or limits!

Shoes: Our event takes place on the ice rink’s concrete floor. Spending the entire night in a spring heel or sandal can be tough, so remember to bring a backup pair of flats, just in case!

Food: Well, Kentucky fare of course! We will have multiple stations serving up some of the finest foods, including oak barrel smoked prime rib, bourbon and maple glazed carved turkey, shrimp scampi ravioli, mint julep bars, Derby pie bites and much much more.

Cocktail Style Seating: No need to fill a table of 10. Come solo or come as a group there will be friends galore to mingle with.

Why: Enjoy a fun night with friends to benefit the school’s academic and financial assistance programs.
